Positive New direction
Having iced my ankle a lot of the last few days I decided to try a different tack and take a hot water bottle to bed last night. I woke this morning with no discomfort and a smile on my face.
So headed to the gym and jumped on the treadmill to see how it felt to do 2 or 3 miles. No pain a big smile but at half a mile it started twinging again… so I hopped straight off again (with a few tears it has to be said), and got onto the cross trainer/ elliptical. So I did 30 minutes and then headed to Bodypump. I worked really hard in BodyPump and I did feel good afterwards but the best this that happened was the great conversation with the Bodypump instructor who was kind enough to give me a few minutes after class. She knows I’m a runner (still feels odd writing that) and that I’m marathon training, so when she asked how I was getting on I was fighting back the tears (again). She has done her fair share of marathons an tri’s so it was a great opportunity to ask her advice and not only did she make me feel better about having time left to train, she also gave me some AWESOME ideas about how I can wear myself out and get the amount of anaerobic exercise I am craving and tiredness in my legs I am just not getting in the workouts I’ve been doing this week! I walked out of that BodyPump class with a smile on my face because I had a great workout and also a new sense of direction about where my plan is headed for the next week that means I still move forward (or at least don’t fall BACK any further) and, for a bit longer, includes no running! I feel strong and happy about it. I WILL get to this marathon and I am going to be fine.
